PDA Training for trainees with hearing impediments and learning disabilities

i-learn in conjunction with Ballarat University successfully completed a pilot programme and hand over in mid December, of a unique PDA and Smart phone based training resources specifically developed for hearing impaired learners. 2000 DVD’s will be distributed to TAFE and Disability Groups around Australia in early 2008, containing a sample of the training resource and Information and guidelines on mobile content development. Inclusive e-learning Disability Project

i-learn Australia has been successful in its application for Federal Government funding, as part of the Flexible Learning Framework managed by the Department of Education, Science and Training. i-learn Australia , in conjunction with Melbourne based Training Organisation “Goal Training and Development” and catering company “Compass Group Australia “ aim to deliver m-learning material to hearing and sight impaired students in an employability skills trial. The project will make use of smart phone devices which will be equipped with m-learning training and assessment tools for the delivery of VET content. The project is scheduled to commence late April 2007.

Development of PDA based training content for hearing impaired and trainees with learning disabilities

i-learn in conjunction with Ballarat University and NMIT has commenced developing PDA based training content for participants that may be hearing impaired, sight impaired and have other learning disabilities. i-learn is to develop content which will include AUSLAN signed video and text based CAPTIONS as well as AUDIO versions of text based resources. i-learn Australia is working in conjunction with Registered Training Organisation (GOAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ) to further develop PDA based training resources for the delivery of the Certificate III Hospitality Operations qualification. The resource includes text , photos , videos , audio and assessments for a nationally accredited training qualification. The resource has been in use to deliver training to various clients since late 2004. The clients have included : Catering Companies, Cafes, Hotels and Clubs.

i-learn is about to develop content on mobile applications (PDAs) for a number of Licensed Clubs in Victoria and a Gourmet Food Production and retail business, incorporating audio visual, photos and text based materials ranging from Company policies and procedures, OH&S, Food Hygiene and training content.

i-learn is aiming to develop and provide future learning content on smart phones utilizing 3G coverage.

i-learn is actively seeking partnerships with hospitality , retail and tourism operations to develop rich multimedia training content that is mobile based and specific to the clients needs. Essentially , the content management system can be utilized for delivery of training to ANY type of industry client.

PDA based Training Resources for two large Regional Victorian Members Clubs

i-learn is developing PDA based training content for the Wonthaggi Workmens Club and the Phillip Island RSL Club in Sth East Victoria. Both venues have staff undertaking Hospitality Traineeships and i-learn is developing site specific content including Club policies and Procedures , guided tour of the venues and menus and wine list multimedia.

The PDA based training resources co-incide and complement with the Phillip Island RSL Club introducing hand held devices to take food and beverage orders on the dining room floor.

RSA Handbook for PDA

i-learn received the green light from Liquor Licensing Victoria in late 2006 to format the current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) handbook on to a mobile format. The company has embedded the RSA text and an audio version of the handbook which will also be available on the PDA . The RSA handbook will be supporting other mobile based accredited Hospitality Units being used by Goal Training and Development , which is a private training organization delivering certified and accredited training to Hospitality clients in Victoria.
